The Harley Davidson Motor Company is most well known as an all American manufacturer of fabulous motorcycles. They sell one of the most heavyweight motorcycles that are excellently designed to be able to look good whilst cruising along the highway. Widely and affectionately nicknamed “Harleys”, they have been credited with the rise to the chopper- style motorcycle.  You can even find Harley Davidson clothing in every store!

In 1901, William S Harley, aged only 21 began his plans for a small engine which was to be used on a regular pedal bicycle frame. Over the next few years, Harley and one of his close friends, Arthur Davidson continued to work to perfect these plans. Although their first motorbike did not live up to their expectations, barely being able to make it up the local hills without extra pedal power, the men did not give up. They persevered and continued to churn out prototypes. In 1904, the first documented appearance of a Harley Davidson motorcycle was recorded in history and two years after that appearance, Harley and the Davidsons opened up their first factory in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which as it happens is still the main headquarters today. The company now employs over 9000 people worldwide and is famous for more than its bikes now. Other merchandise is very popular, for instance Helmets, eyewear and not forgetting Harley Davison leather jackets are just a few examples of many. The rest is history.
